Buyer Evaluations
I have some of the similar feelings as "D. Hull" in his evaluation. I had normally wanted a RC helicopter, but located them to be as well expensive till recently. And then I discovered the Spy Hawk RC LT-711 RC helicopter. When I bought this, I believed the built in digital camera with mini-SD card that can be activated by way of remote was a genius thought. It was a sleek searching helicopter with a camera, lights, and the price was outstanding. It looked as well very good to be true...and it was. Right here are my observations from my encounter in the few days I have had this.
1) The instruction manual is the worst one I have ever observed...EVER. It was written in broken English and is riddled with grammatical errors and other statements that just make no sense. To begin with, it is a modest leaflet with 8 pages, 2 of which are photographs of spare components (but, of course, there is no instructions on how to basically replace any parts need to one thing break). Where's the rest? This manual is awfully skimpy for a RC helicopter with a camera. Right here are a couple of gems, but there are plenty even more. I am not employing poor grammar here. These are direct quotes from the instruction manual:
-"Notice: When the airplane is away from the ground in 30cm position, the helicopter will suffer by itself blade vortex to develop into unstable, we call it 'effect response', when the helicopter height lower, and the 'effect response' affect will be larger."
-"Notice: When the indicator of the controller is sparkle, which shows the controller is lack of power. And you can adjust some batteries for it."
There are also components labeled in the instruction manual in which there is no explanation or instruction supplied, such as the "voltage indicator" on the remote and "two speed mode" button. How do these perform? Who knows? The instruction manual doesn't tell you.
The instruction manual also indicates this helicopter is for ages 14+, but the box clearly says ages eight+. This sort of discrepancy must never exist, but in my private opinion, I would not give this to an 8 year old.
two) The digital camera does not work reliably. I got it to record a few seconds of test video, but just after putting the mini SD card back in the helicopter, it only recorded a blank file. For each five of six blank files it would record, the camera would truly record 1 video, only to go back to making blank files.
3) Battery capacity is inconsistent. The instruction manual says "Do not charge more than 60-70 minutes". To me, that signifies after 70 minutes of charging and then unplug it from the charger. Correct? Will failure to do so damage the battery? I don't know. Again, the instruction manual doesn't say. There is an indicator light that goes from red to green when the battery is finished charging. One time, it showed it was charged immediately after about 70 to 75 minutes of charging. The result? The helicopter's battery offered about 2 minutes of flying time. The following charge, it took two hours until the battery indicated it was charged. That time, the helicopter flew for about one minute, but couldn't be controlled in the air. The propellers would just spin and the helicopter would not get off the ground again following I landed it.
three) The helicopter is particularly troublesome to control outside. It was a sunny day, 54 degrees and no wind. Forward and reverse controls did tiny to manage the movement of the helicopter.
I have followed what little instructions were supplied and have not crashed the helicopter in the small time it essentially flew. But soon after only a few flights, it is not recording video, has an inconsistent and unreliable battery charging method and battery capacity. And, worse however, the helicopter now won't even get off the ground.
If this were a reliable item that did what was advertised and had a more thorough and understandable instruction manual, I would be happy to personal this helicopter and suggest it to other people.
I will be returning this helicopter and I welcome anyone's ideas for a far more dependable product.
This tiny toy was fairly satisfying. It did what was advertised and then some a great deal more. Don't worry about the instruction mannual. If you have any capacity to read between the lines you can figure out the mannual. Actually it was somewhat entertaining. The helicopter is quite sturdy as it has crashed a number of times and comes back for a lot more abuse. Do not fly it outside if there is any wind. The video camera is amazing and runs for as extended as the helicopter is flying which lasts for five minutes or even more. The good quality of the video is far better than was expected. I paid $104 plus shipping of $38 due to Christmas deadline but have noticed it discounted at Frys for $70. Have enjoyable!
